BALLOCH OPEN MIC 06 OCTOBER 2025
On Monday 06 October 2025 we look forward to welcoming award winning poet, short story writer and novelist, Charlie Gracie, who has visited us many times before. Not to be missed.
Charlie is originally from Baillieston, Glasgow and now lives on the edge of the Trossachs.
He is a member of the Writers in Exile Committee for Scottish PEN, is a former chair of the Scottish Writers’ Centre and was the 2020 Scriever for the Federation of Writers (Scotland). He was the winner of the 2023 Deirdre Roberts Poetry Competition.
Red Squirrel Press will publish a pamphlet this year, a collaboration between Charlie, Mairi Murphy and Donal McLaughlin, two other poets of the Irish diaspora. Charlie’s current projects include a supernatural tale looking at the history of the Highland Clearances and subsequent intergenerational poverty, and a project with a visual artist on the impact of dementia.
We start at 7pm in Balloch House Hotel, Balloch. If you would like to read, turn up earlier to sign up for a five minute reading slot which are usually available from 6.30pm. We hope to see you there. You will be made very welcome.
