Join us for a Pachuco Boogie Writing Workshop, where we tap into the raw spirit of Chicana/o/x history, the heartbeat of our ancestors, and the sacred funk of Albuquerque style.
We’re calling in writers, dreamers, abuelitas’ grandchildren, lowrider poets, barrio historians, and anyone ready to explore our culture through the lens of memory, myth, and movement. In the shadow of the Sandias and the glow of the Duke City skyline, we’ll gather to put ink to paper and spirit to flesh.
What We’ll Explore:
Chicana/x/o identity rooted in indigeneity, migration, and survival
The Zoot Suit rebellion as aesthetic defiance
Lowriders, Impalas, and linework. style and fashion as sacred storytelling
The Zia sun, the Duke City skyline, and chicanx imagery and style across the eras.
The unspoken stories hiding in our wardrobe, car clubs, music, and family names
This workshop is cultural ceremony on the page. We’ll use prompts, poetry, and storytelling to reclaim our voices and honor the legacies that shaped us. We’ll channel the Pachucas and Pachucos who walked before us. sharp, proud, loud, and full of fire and rhyme.
Bring the spirit, we’ll bring the altar of words.
Pachuco is style. It’s lineage. It’s legacy. It’s language.
Let’s write that into the future.
All writing levels welcome
