Our AFME Unscripted: A Table Read & Networking Event on Saturday, July 12, 2025, invites you to experience the magic of storytelling come to life, followed by a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry professionals.
From 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, prepare to be captivated as local actors bring to life three of our winning short screenplays from the 2024 Albuquerque Film + Music Experience festival. You'll hear these incredible stories performed live, offering a unique insight into the writers' visions:
"I See You" by Kate Bergeron: What starts as a desperate plea for alone time turns into a wild ride for a frazzled mother. Watch as her indulgent fantasy world is invaded by two mysterious creatures, quickly transforming her dream into a nightmare.
"Chain of Command" by Trinity Diehlee: Get ready for an unexpected journey as a talking mouse, on a mission to remove a mousetrap, inadvertently triggers the collapse of North American infrastructure by rising through the ranks of a decommissioned military nuclear laboratory.
"Penance" by P. Antonio Márquez: Step into a rarely seen piece of the Old West where cultures collide. A Mexican Penitente, a Black Buffalo Soldier, and an Apache Warrior Woman confront each other in the aftermath of a profound tragedy.
Immediately following the readings, from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm, stick around for our Industry Networking Mixer. This is your chance to mingle with fellow film and music enthusiasts, local talent, and industry insiders in a relaxed, "unscripted" environment. Forge new connections, share ideas, and explore potential collaborations.
