Never painted or drawn? Love nature? Need to relax? Or perhaps a reminder that the world is magical place? This is the perfect workshop for you!
Joining us is local artist and environmental-scientist Chelsea Hopkins-Allan to guide you through, investigating local micro-moth specimens in detail and taking the time to create artwork from the beauty observed in nature.
Chelsea recently documented these specimens under the microscope at the WA Museum Collection, as part of her ‘Activating Collections’ Artist Residency with ART ON THE MOVE. These minuscule creatures look like flakes of dust - until they are viewed under the microscope, revealing their intricate beauty!
Using the painting technique of glazing in acrylic paint, this workshop takes you through the process of creating a detailed layered artwork of your selected micro-moth. This process is combined with slow-looking, mindfulness, ecology and insights from within the WA Museum Entomology Collection.
Connect with your sense of wonder as you explore the hidden universe and visual language of these magnificent creatures.
All skill and experience levels are welcome! Materials and light refreshments are included with bookings essential.
