Confetti Stage Inc. Is excited to announce auditions for “If The Fates Allow” directed by Tobias Martin.
Written by the very talented Laura Darling, "If The Fates Allow" is a bittersweet comedy about human nature, life and who we really are when destiny suddenly arrives.
Synopsis:
A few days before Christmas, several people meet in a diner; some are brought there by bad luck, some by happenstance, and some by good pie. When a mysterious stranger arrives and makes an announcement, the group must make a life-and-death decision.
Run Time: 77 minutes
Character breakdown:
Diane: Female, age 40-60+, owner of the diner. Good hearted and hard worker. Kind, but stern. Probably works too hard to make up for the fact that she doesn't have much of a life outside the diner.
Clarence: Male, age 30+, short order cook of the diner. Usually grouchy. A father to two young kids. Tired of your shit. He craves more, but probably doesn’t have the gumption to go after it.
Rose: Female, 20 - 28. Kind but very reserved. Probably sadder than she lets on. Her parents passed away in an accident and she is a bit alone and feels adrift.
Bill: Male 50+ Every town has that guy who probably drinks too much and was too mean to his wife most of his life. Bill is that guy. Probably kinder than he lets on. Most would call him a jerk, he probably is.
Mary: 25-30’s female. A new nervous mother to baby Ruthie and wife of Mark. She is a fierce protector, but probably doesn’t geta a chance to use that voice much in her marriage. Nice but not kind. Probably getting to the end of her rope.
Mark: Male later 20’s to 30’s. Husband to Mary and Father of Ruthie. He is probably a kind and gentle man, but something about the holiday stress means that person is not with us right now. Easily flustered and angered. Not really a planner.
Val: Female: late 50s 70s+. Val is an eccentric older woman with wonderful style. Always busy and with always someplace to be, she rarely has time to stop and be genuine. Self centered and popular, she likes to feel important. Probably more selfish than she would admit.
Mysterious stranger: (Any age and gender) Plain and matter of fact. There’s not much they haven't seen. They try not to get emotional and involved with others. They are simply there to do a job. There is something strange and other worldly about them.
