This month's presentation is by Carmen Guevara and Kaylee Romero from The Colorado Housing and Finance Authority with The Steps to Homeownership:
Requirements, Resources, Support and Information about The Colorado Housing and Finance Authority.
We’ll begin with a brief introduction to CHFA, outlining our role in supporting individuals on their journey to homeownership.
Next, we’ll walk through the steps to homeownership, from assessing financial readiness and getting pre-approved, to making an offer and closing on a home. We’ll cover the basic requirements for qualifying, including credit scores, income limits, and important steps.
The presentation will also highlight available down payment assistance programs—who qualifies, what types exist, and how to apply. Finally, we’ll share helpful resources, such as housing counselors, educational workshops, andlocal programs to support homebuyers before and after purchase.
Attendees will learn:
1. Understanding the Process
Homeownership involves a clear set of steps—from pre-approval to closing—that can be
navigated with preparation and guidance.
2. Know What’s Required

securing a mortgage.
3. Support Is Available
Down payment assistance programs can significantly reduce upfront costs for eligible
buyers.
4. Resources Empower You

informed, confident decisions.
