Youth Workshop: Teen Equine Assisted Learning Event

This exciting youth workshop is an Equine Assisted Learning event for teens Grades 9-12(or just graduated). All genders welcome. Teens will learn skills to help boost confidence and self-esteem to support their mental health through interesting and engaging exercises, side-by-side with the horses. This fun group will provide a space to learn about horses and what makes them unique, while creating unforgettable memories. Participants will leave with increased self confidence, more resilience to overcome challenges and a better connection to their strengths and skills.

This event was created with a generous donation in honour of a Durham youth who was lost to suicide last year. A $20 registration is required to attend and all proceeds will be donated to in his memory.

Hosted by Smiling Faces Equestrian in Ajax, ON and facilitated by Laura Boyko. Laura is a certified equine assisted learning facilitator and registered social worker. Laura has trained across Canada and the United States and works 1:1 and with many groups of individuals to learn about themselves and each other through equine assisted learning. She has seen many times how horses can help people overcome fears, learn new skills and gain a greater sense of confidence in just one visit!

No riding experience is necessary and all activities take place on the ground.

This event is hosted by Stable Works, an equine assisted learning company that specializes in team building, special events, school groups, and personal development. Stable Works owner, Laura Boyko, is a certified equine facilitator through Dreamwinds Equine Learning, holds a Master in Education-Leadership, has taught for over 20 years in college/university classes, and has led over a dozen teams in her career.

Laura always has additional trained co-facilitators at each event to assist participants with any questions or concerns you may have.
