Join us at Ajax GO Station as we come together to honour Emancipation Day with a powerful community celebration before the Freedom Train Ride departs for Toronto.
This year marks Durham Region’s first-ever coordinated participation in the Underground Freedom Train Ride—led by Blackhurst Cultural Centre—and while the chartered buses sold out FAST, the opening ceremony is still open to all. You don’t need a ticket—just show up!

Even though our buses are full, you can make your own way to Vaughan Metropolitan Centre to join the official Emancipation Day Train Ride.
