Hailed for her versatility and “true rich tone”, Keely enjoys singing all styles of music, even dabbling in folk genres. Her respect and love for all music runs deep. She is sought after as a solo and chamber recitalist within the United States; and, has performed internationally in Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Germany, Great Britain, Italy, and Panama.
Some of the notable ensembles she has performed with are Augusta Symphony, Austin Symphony, Austin Lyric Opera, Apollo Master Chorale, Allium Ensemble, Blacksburg Master Chorale, Conspirare – a company of Voices, Kinnara Ensemble, Santa Fe Desert Chorale, Santa Fe Opera, Texas Bach Festival, True Concord Voices and Orchestra, Victoria Bach Festival, Virginia Oratorio Society, Vox Humana, and the Washington Bach Consort.
Throughout her academic career, Dr. Rhodes has served as an assistant professor of music in vocal studies and as a director of choirs and advisor for music and interdisciplinary students. She is currently awaiting the approval of her Tenure application at USC Aiken. Dr. Rhodes is the Artistic Director for two of Aiken’s community choirs: Aiken Youth Choirs - Belles Canto, and The South Boundary Singers.
She has had the honors of working with the renowned Sra. Mirella Freni while serving as a Fulbright Scholar to Italy, winning the Austin Critic’s Table Award for Best Classical Singer – Female, and receiving a Grammy® Award with Conspirare. She has also received recognition for her work on the Grammy® Award winning work Prayers and Remembrances with the late Stephen Paulus. Dr. Rhodes participated on twelve Grammy® nominated recordings and is an active voting member of the Recoding Academy since 2007.
Keely has recorded with ensembles on Harmonia Mundi, Clarion, Naxos, MPR, Longhorn Music, Reference Recordings, and Conspirare labels. Her first professional solo recording, Christmas Calling, was self-produced in 2018, and she is working towards the recording and release of her second album. Keely holds a Bachelor of Music from Oberlin Conservatory and Master and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of Texas in Austin.
Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for comfortable seating. While picnic dinners are allowed, please note that alcohol is not permitted. This family-friendly concert series is free for all to attend.
In case of inclement weather, the performance will move to Gym 2 at the Odell Weeks Center, located at 1700 Whiskey Rd.
Parking for the event is located across the street from Hopelands Gardens at the Green Boundary Club, 780 Whiskey Road. Handicap parking spaces are conveniently accessible at Rye Patch on Berrie Road and at Hopelands Gardens on Dupree Place.
