DIFFICULTY: HARD. ALLTRAILS: “The Aiea Ridge Trail is an advanced, strenuous journey to the Koʻolau Summit—one of Oahu's most rewarding climbs. Branching off the easier Aiea Loop, this 9-to-10 mile hike gains nearly 3,000 feet along the mountain spine. Be prepared for a slippery, muddy ascent with steep, rooty sections and some ropes for scrambling. The trail is narrow with drop-offs and often overgrown with scratchy ferns, so long pants are a must! Since the final ascent is often not well marked, and clouds can block your view, download the route map for safety and plan an early start to catch the stunning windward coast panorama.”
TIME: 8-10hrs roundtrip maybe longer depending on your pace.
DISTANCE: About 9-10 miles round trip
ELEVATION GAIN: 2,864 ft
WHERE: Aiea Loop Trailhead. - (Use 99-1849 Aiea Heights Dr.)

PARKING: 🅿️ CARPOOL as much as possible. PLAN ACCORDINGLY! Gates close at 6:45pm.
CHALLENGES: Advanced hikers only or those willing to take on a challenge. We will continue on the Ko’olau Summit Trail for a mile for those that want to see the H3 views, extremely steep. Depending on weather can be in the clouds, rainy, can be very windy and muddy (plan and dress accordingly). Reception can be spotty download your AllTrails/map, bring battery power packs. 4Liters of water, plenty of food.
PAYOFF: The views along the entire trail are iconic. Windward Views from North Shore to Waimanalo on a clear day at the summit.

Recommended Items:
- Hiking Shoes with good grip and/or bring spikes it can be very muddy on the Ko’olau Summit Trail.
-Long pants are recommended otherwise expect overgrown trail conditions and ferns to poke and scratch.
-Gloves for rope sections
