It’s the final meetup of the year, and we're wrapping things up by going back to basics. Before you boot into holiday mode, we need you to optimize your CONFIG.SYS one last time.
Make sure your Sound Blaster IRQs are set correctly (Port 220, IRQ 5, DMA 1, obviously) and your boot disks are ready, because we are celebrating the golden age of the beige box. If you remember having to free up conventional memory just to get a game running, this meetup is for you.
THE SILICON DRAG RACES: Separate Heats. Tune your BIOS settings, minimize your wait states, and ensure your Turbo button is engaged.
• Round 1: The 386 Scramble. Squeeze every last bit out of that old ceramic package.
• Round 2: The 486 Sprint. Time to see who really rules the VLB bus….. basically just try to take down Declan 😂
