It’s back! We’re very much hoping to see you at the Chertsey Beer and Pie and Infusions Challenge 2025. If you’re entering something (and we really hope you are), here’s the skinny on what you need do.
BEER GRAND PRIX
- Brew a beer to the 2025 competition recipe, as set by our sainted beer judge Hugo Anderson.
- Enter 3 unmarked bottles of your beer (for blind tasting).
- Enter 1 additional bottle bearing your beer’s label and name.
- There will be a trophy for the Grand Prix best beer and an award for best label.
PIE GRAND PRIX
- Bake one or more pies. Number of entries per baker is unlimited.
- For the purposes of this competition, a pie is classified as any food stuff elevated to greatness by virtue of being encased in pastry (at least base and sides).
- Free choice of recipe. Sweet or savoury.
- Please present in a dish or on a board with ingredients / allergens listed.
- There will be awards for best savoury pie and best sweet pie, with a Grand Prix trophy for best overall pie.
INFUSIONS PRIZE
- Create on or more infusions. Number of infusions per contestant is unlimited.
- An infusion, for the purposes of this competition, is any strong alcohol suffused with a flavour.
- Free choice of recipe. Sweet or savoury.
- Please present in a sealed bottle with ingredients / allergens listed.
- There will be awards for best savoury infusion and best sweet infusion, with a trophy for best overall infusion.
The Challenge will be held at the Swan on Sat 6 Dec at 4pm.
Infusions and pies can be created at short notice and we welcome as many entries as possible.
