Join us on August 5th from 6–7 PM as we wrap up our Summer Reading Carnival with an unforgettable performance by The Rule of Two—our third and final band in the Summer Concert Series!
About the band:
The Rule of Two is made up of a married couple who met while attending Berklee College of Music. Together, they make their living as full-time musicians - teaching, composing, producing, and making content on top of performing. Over the past 10 years, Emily Desmond and Aaron Wheeler have worked hard building an extensive portfolio as versatile musicians.
They have performed at various events and venues all over New England, including Boston's famous Hatch Shell, where they opened for Andy Grammer, Third Eye Blind, Rachel Platten, and Vance Joy. Emily has been nominated for Best Female Artist by the International Acoustic Music Awards, and has received an Honorable Mention for Best Folk Song from the USA Songwriting Competition. As a guitarist, Aaron made significant contributions to those projects and many others, and has been playing in high-end wedding bands and pit bands for local theater companies and productions.
As composers, their home studio functions as a one-stop-shop for writing music. Their strengths as individuals allow them to provide everything as a duo, from songwriting, recording, arranging, orchestration, and production. Helping clients realize their musical visions, whether that be for personal use, advertisements, or theme songs, has been a highlight of their career. In addition to client work, they continue to work on personal projects that will be released at a later date. As educators, they provide private lessons in voice, guitar, and bass, as well as mentorship in performance, songwriting, and track production. Emily spent four years teaching music in a special education setting, and currently teaches general music for pre-K through 8th grade, in addition to running a successful music ed channel on YouTube, called Music Theories.
