Join us as we welcome local author Dr. Camesia O. Matthews! Dr. Matthews is launching a thought-provoking new book, The Dental Fitness Advantage: How a Healthy Mouth Enhances Total Body Health and Elevates Performance.
About the Book
Everyone goes to the dentist—whether to stop pain, keep up appearances, or maintain regular checkups—but this book invites you to become something more: a Peak Performer.
Drawing from her expertise in sports dentistry, oral and systemic health, and microbiology, Dr. Matthews introduces “dental fitness” as the oral health corollary to Medicine 3.0—an approach grounded in early detection, prevention, and personalization. With accessible science, clear analogies, and illustrations created by the author herself, she explains how the five comprehensive pillars of dental fitness—Prevention, Posture, Protection, Presentation, and Psychology—can transform oral care into a lifelong journey of habits and mindset, not perfection.
From the emerging science of the oral microbiome to the surprising role of dental alignment in balance, strength, and sleep quality, The Dental Fitness Advantage offers practical steps that benefit everyone—including youth athletes, active adults, and anyone seeking to perform at their best in their daily tasks. Readers also gain access to an exclusive self-assessment, the Dental Fitness Score, to personalize their path toward optimal oral health. This book is for anyone ready to see the mouth not as an afterthought, but as a foundation for total body health and peak performance.
