*RELEASE OF GUIDELINES AND TIMETABLE FOR THE BASSA-NGE MUSIC CONTEST*
Following the earlier call for participation in the Bassa-Nge Music Contest, the organizing committee is pleased to release the official *guidelines and timetable* for the competition. As previously announced, the top three winners will be awarded as follows:
• First Place: ₦300,000
• Second Place: ₦250,000
• Third Place: ₦200,000
*Contest Timetable*
1. Friday, June 14, 2025 – Official publication of the contest timetable and guidelines.
2. Saturday, June 15, 2025 – Commencement of sales of contestant forms. Completed forms must be submitted by Monday, June 23, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Nigerian time), along with proof of BNCDN membership registration and evidence of annual dues payment.
3. Tuesday, June 24, 2025 – Submission of entries (audio and video) for the group stage opens. Deadline for submission is Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Nigerian time).
4. Tuesday, July 15, 2025 – Announcement of group stage results and presentation of scripts to qualified finalists.
5. Wednesday, July 16, 2025 – Submission of final stage content (audio/video) begins. Deadline is Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. (Nigerian time).
6. Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 12:00 noon (Nigerian time) – Final announcement of winners by the Contest Committee Chairman.
*Participation Guidelines*
1. *Membership Requirement:* All contestants must be registered members of the Bassa-Nge Cultural Development Network (BNCDN), or must revalidate their membership in line with the BNCDN Constitution.
✓ Registration fee: ₦2,000 (payable to the BNCDN bank account).
✓ Proof of payment must be submitted to the Financial Secretary or any executive council member to obtain a membership registration number.
2. *Annual Dues:* Contestants must pay a minimum of ₦3,000 as annual dues to the BNCDN account.
3. *Contestant Form Fee:* The participation form costs ₦5,000 and must be paid before submission.
4. *Eligibility:* The contest is open to all Bassa-Nge individuals globally.
5. *Originality & Language:* Each contestant must compose and perform an original song exclusively for this competition, using only the core Bassa-Nge language.
6. *Group Stage Requirements:*
✓ Contestants must record a song in a studio setting that reflects and promotes Bassa-Nge culture and identity.
✓ Song duration must be between 5 and 10 minutes.
7. *Final Stage Format:*
✓ The top five contestants advancing to the final stage will receive a script from the committee to perform.
✓ Based on these performances, the top three will receive the prize awards.
8. *Submission Format:*
✓ Songs must be submitted in both audio and video formats, separately.
✓ Videos may be professionally produced or created using mobile devices or slideshow-style visuals with background audio. High technical production is not mandatory.
9. *Cultural Presentation:*
✓ All performers and dancers in the video must wear traditional Bassa-Nge attire, reflecting the recognized traditional colours.
10. *Digital Engagement:*
✓ Contestants must remain digitally active throughout the contest period.
✓ The committee will not send individual notifications. All contestants are expected to follow, like, and share posts from official BNCDN platforms.
✓ Contestants are encouraged to promote their entries by resharing relevant BNCDN posts on their personal timelines and encouraging their supporters to engage with BNCDN content online.
