Official Search Party
Meet and Sign in at Guitars and Cadillac parking lot, there will be a red pop up tent and table. Flyers and zone maps will be provided, physical and digital copies.
There are 2 search party times:
8am to 10am
4pm to 6pm
General Safety Guidelines:
Always stay in teams of 2–4. Never search alone.
Wear: Long pants, closed shoes, bright or reflective clothing.
Bring: Water, charged phone, bug spray, sunscreen.
Check in/out at the main post before and after your search.
Respect private property — do not enter fenced areas without permission.
Be aware of wildlife — especially snakes, hogs, and insects.
Report anything suspicious immediately. Stay vigilant.
Zone 1 (Northwest)
Dangers:
Sparse residential area near McMurry University
Occasional abandoned buildings or backlots
Loose dogs or animals from nearby homes
Overgrown lots or alleyways
Zone 2 (North-Central)
Dangers:
Older neighborhoods with potential for:
Unmaintained sidewalks (trip hazard)
Narrow streets with poor lighting
Higher foot traffic and possible petty theft
Zone 3 (Northeast)
Dangers:
Industrial and rail-adjacent areas
Possible illegal dumping sites
Poor lighting in some industrial corridors
Zone 4 (West-Central)
Dangers:
Proximity to Redbud Park—watch for:
Unpredictable foot or bike traffic
Hidden trails with limited visibility
Zone 5 (Central)
Dangers:
High vehicle and foot traffic
South Treadaway Blvd: frequent speeding
Zone 6 (East-Central)
Dangers:
Open fields and wooded spots—wildlife (snakes, raccoons)
South Treadaway industrial access—dumped trash, glass
Sparse lighting in some sections
Zone 7 (Southwest)
Dangers:
Near highway—fast traffic, limited pedestrian access
Potential for unhoused individuals in underpasses or lots
Zone 8 (South-Central)
Dangers:
Border of commercial and residential zones
Abilene Country Club = low risk, but isolated sections nearby may be less monitored
Risk of snake sightings near creeks or open lots
Zone 9 (Southeast)
Dangers:
Open land and flood-prone low areas
Potential for stray dogs or wildlife
Sparse housing = slower emergency response
