A weekend retreat for you to settle, unwind, soften, open, quieten down the chattering mind & express yourself authentically.
Cultivate curious, compassionate Self inquiry through movement, dance and conscious connected breathwork.
The Big Shed is a wonderful venue. A spacious hall with wooden floor, large kitchen, attic lounge and 120 acres of rolling landscape down to a sandy beach on the shores of Loch Tay.
We will have sessions indoors and also outdoors to connect more deeply with the natural elements.
Lucy Fredman is a relational body psychotherapist and trainer based in Moray and has been working with individuals and groups for over 25 years. She teaches workshops in ‘Dance of Awareness’, an embodied movement practice that explores early developmental patterns through a dynamic movement journey. She is also a certified breathwork facilitator and runs Conscious Connected Breathwork groups in Findhorn. Having trained in therapeutic modalities from psychodynamic, humanistic, transpersonal and body-centred traditions, she has found that working with the body-mind connection is the most powerful and effective way of facilitating healing. www.bodymindhealing.life
Scott Young has been facilitating community orientated retreats in Scotland for 15 years, and his varied curriculum of study and experiential learning and attunement has led him to offer a practise that he calls Fluid Nature. Movement sessions which allow for the recalibration of the nervous system, always self guided through the felt sense of each person, and then opening up into expressive dance and connection with others.. Supported by soulful music from around the planet and also exploring the breath, voice and silence, so as to deepen coherent awareness and fluid movement, gently transforming excessive stress which is held in the body.
We will have between 2 - 3 hours of movement & dance each day and there will be 2 breathwork sessions with Lucy throughout the weekend, with plenty of time for integration and simply being in the very supportive environment.
Settling into deeply grounded, open awareness is the intention for this weekend, and out of that dynamic clarity, insight can arise. Accompanied with joyful connection and play.
We also have a dream sharing circle each morning.. Not to analyse dreams.. Simply to remember the dreamer of the dream and honour the symbolic gifts that are gifted to us for deepening intimacy with Self.
There's a beautiful lawn outside The Big Shed where you will wake up in the morning to a view over the hills and down to Loch Tay. There is space for camper vans and tents.. If you have any physical ailments which inhibit your ability to sleep in a tent there are a couple of spaces for people to sleep in the comfortable attic space.
The weekend is partially catered and there will be an invitation to bring a limited amount of food so we can share in each others' offerings. Don't worry, you won't have to be in the kitchen preparing meals.. I'll explain for those of you who sign up.
The cost of the weekend is 200 quid. Concessions are available for folk who genuinely want to share in this and who are struggling financially. Please pay the 200 if that's easy for you.
Please don't allow money to be an obstacle to you sharing in this weekend if you really feel to be there.. Reach out to us and communicate and we'll find a way..
Conscious Connected Breathwork – What To Expect
Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB) is a simple yet powerful breathing technique which involves deep breathing in and out through an open mouth with no pause between the inhale and the exhale. It can foster greater connection between mind, body and spirit, offering a range of benefits on all levels. Physically, CCB can release tension held in the body and alleviate pain. Emotionally, it can help you safely express suppressed emotions and trauma-related stress leading to increased emotional resilience. On a mental level, it can help to still the mind leaving you feeling calm with a sense of well being and clarity. It can also be a gateway into the transpersonal to experience heightened states of consciousness and connect with your inner wisdom.
Guided by music, the breathwork sessions will take place lying or sitting on a yoga mat and last about an hour. You will be encouraged to surrender as much as you can to whatever arises. Movement and vocalising are encouraged as part of the releasing process. You will be verbally guided during the session and touch is offered as an option (only with your consent) for emotional support, grounding and to allow deeper release. Lucy brings a trauma-informed approach to breathwork and there will be an emphasis on staying self-regulated throughout the session.
Please note: Conscious Connected Breathwork (CCB) is a powerful technique which comes with some contraindications. These include: glaucoma/detached retina; aneurysm; strokes; low or high blood pressure; lung or heart conditions; epilepsy; bipolar; schizophrenia; untreated/severe PTSD; early or unstable pregnancy; recent major surgery
When you book your place on the retreat, you will be required to fill in a registration form which will be confidential. In order to ensure your safety, this will provide an opportunity to check if any of the contraindications apply to you. If this is the case, it will still be possible for you to practice CCB but using a modified technique which is completely safe for everyone to use. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Lucy
