About the Musical
OILCAN - the musical is a bold and innovative musical blending contemporary rap with traditional Scottish airs. Power, identity, and community leadership are all explored. Developed through collaborative workshops, the musical amplifies unheard voices, telling the stories of communities facing political and social challenges.
At its core, OILCAN – the musical is a platform for creative expression, where participants contribute ideas, lyrics, and scripts that may shape the final production.
Through attending one of our feeder workshops, you can develop skills in musical writing, connect with a wider artistic community, and potentially see your work both published and featured in a professional production!
About the Venue
Opened in 1967 and previously named the Agriculture Building, the MacRobert Building was renamed to honour the MacRobert Trust. It houses Aberdeen University's Schools of Education, Music, Business, and The Elphinstone Institute.
We're in room MR614 and the main entrance is found on the King Street side of the building. Look out for a member of our team signposting you on the day.
About The Festival
WayWORD empowers young people to produce a cross-arts literary festival in Aberdeen which celebrates new work and ideas, amplifies diverse voices and breaks down barriers to culture in our community.
