About the event

Aberdeen Science Festival - Beyond the Airlock: Engineering Habitats in the Sea & Space
Adele Luta is a scientist, innovator and TEDx speaker; with her previous career at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Johnson Space Flight Centre as a certified Mission Control Centre flight controller and astronaut instructor she has supported over 90 spacewalks. Now at Oceaneering International Inc, she is supporting exploration efforts in extreme environments such as outer space and under the sea. Adele is an aquanaut, seaplane pilot, and coral restoration volunteer scuba diver. In this talk, she will share some of the scientific and engineering challenges to living and exploring in extreme environments while interweaving stories from her career.
