Please join us for the opening of re:View, an exhibition of photographic and installation art by Sant Khalsa, from 5-7pm Friday January 9th, 2026 in the Black Rock Art Gallery at the Black Rock Nature Center.
Sant Khalsa’s artworks derive from an impassioned inquiry into the nature of place and its complex environmental and societal issues. Her artworks create a contemplative space where one can sense the subtle and profound connections between themselves, the natural world, and our constructed landscapes. The artworks in this exhibition are inspired by the artist’s relationship with Joshua trees, developed since she first experienced them in 1973, and reflect decades of observation and research. She has witnessed changes to the trees and their ecosystem due to climate change, fires, development, and increased visitation to the National Park, all of which impact these extraordinary beings. Sant’s works represent her ongoing commitment to eco-art and activism and stand as a call to action for us all.
