happy to have Special operations medic, James Wiley come to the shop and teach life saving skills. James is a disabled veteran who was trained in the army at the John F. Kennedy special warfare and combat school.
James went on and did tours in the Middle East as a Senior Medic during combat, I say this to only convey his experience in this work is unfortunately rooted in lived experience.
As a veteran he went to Ukraine to teach civilians M.A.R.C.H.
In this free skill share we will learn how to prioritize life-saving care and
understand the order of treatment in a trauma situation to treat yourself or others.
M.A.R.C.H.
● Massive Hemorrhage—identify and manage life threatening bleeding
● Airway—clear and open airway
● Respiration—identify and treat chest wound
● Circulation—manage shock
● Hypothermia—conserve heat
He will also provide information on creating a makeshift tourniquet with available resources. One doesn’t need the fancy gear if they have the knowledge.
I understand how this can be complicated due to his background in imperialism, I have decided to offer this as a life saving skill for folks who want the perspective from a combat medic. I also offer many other medic trainings that arent from this perspective.
See you at this amazing free event, donations are appreciated to keep the shop lights on while we continue to provide our community with free care and events.
