Weekend plans? Come hangout in Ypsilanti Township at North Hydro Park from 2-6pm!
This park in particular was chosen to help highlight the beautiful area that the regents of U of M and Los Alamos Labs (the creators of the atomic bomb) are angling to build an AI data center for top secret military business, despite the community being very opposed to the plan. Data centers like this are terrible for the people, parks, and wildlife who call the area home, everyone who shares the grid and wider community, and everyone and everywhere the weapons their research helps create might be used (the list goes on).
Information about the project will be available for anyone hoping to learn more, as well as the usual park hangout goodies and festivities like zines, stickers, crafts, lawn games, and more! Feel free to bring anything you’d like to do with or around others, hope to see ya there!
Learning more and pushing back keeps us all safer! For more info, check out @stopthedata , stopthedatacenter.org, or linktr.ee/stopthedata
As always, accessibility doc at the link in bio. Note also that this park costs $3 per day to park. Season passes to township parks can be purchased for $10-20 depending on residency, and free for local seniors! If cost is a barrier, or you’d like to help cover costs for others, please reach out.
