Beyond Choir presents Eternal Light, a concert of radiant sacred music that spans centuries of choral tradition. The centerpiece of the program is Gabriel Fauré’s moving Requiem, a masterwork beloved for its serenity, lyricism, and message of consolation. Unlike many settings of the Requiem Mass, Fauré’s vision offers peace and rest rather than fear, enveloping listeners in an atmosphere of hope and comfort.
Complementing this are selections from the works of Renaissance master Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, whose 500th anniversary is marked this year. Known for his clarity of line and luminous harmonies, Palestrina’s polyphony has inspired generations of composers and continues to embody the spirit of timeless sacred expression.
Together, Fauré’s tender requiem and Palestrina’s masterful motets invite audiences into a profound meditation on light, peace, and the enduring power of music to elevate the human spirit.
