Basic Chainsaw Training & Workday // Friday, July 25 & Saturday, July 26
When high winds and tornadoes strike, LERT (Lutheran Early Response Teams) chainsaw crews are soon deployed to clean up downed trees and debris.
Training and certification is required in order to access disaster areas and safely operate equipment.
https://bit.ly/LERTJuly25and26Training) by July 18 to receive LERT Chainsaw training (first time or renewing) on Friday, July 25 & 26 at Cross. The class is in demand and will fill up quickly, so don’t delay!
Wondering what a LERT volunteer does?
When a disaster occurs, certified LERT volunteers receive a deployment alert. They respond to indicate their availability then wait for instructions. Depending on the nature and scope of the event, they may be called on to distribute resources, feed people, salvage possessions, muck out houses, provide transportation, clean up debris, assist at emergency shelters, and other types of care. Specially trained chainsaw volunteers may be called in. However, the most important function of a LERT volunteer is their presence and listening roles.
If you have a willingness to serve those affected by disasters, consider signing up for a future LERT training, we will keep you posted through the weekly E-Newsletter on trainings coming up!
