The weekend is only one month away now! It will be a weekend full of fun and fellowship ☺️Thanks to those who have already registered. RSVPs REQUIRED BY FRIDAY 3rd OCTOBER.
WHERE & WHEN
Friday pm, October 24th - Sunday noon, October 26th. If you can't come the whole weekend, you're welcome to stay for a shorter period of time, e.g. one night, or perhaps during the day on Saturday. Whatever suits you.
The accommodation is at the Coobowie School Retreat House in the Coobowie Caravan Park. Coobowie is approx. 2.5 hours from Adelaide, between Edithburgh & Stansbury on southern Yorke Peninsula.
ACCOMMODATION
The Retreat House caters for a maximum of 32 in 4 bedrooms. It has its own amenities, kitchen/dining, lounge, accessible bathroom facilities, and access to a private camp kitchen. Linen hire is available. See the link: Coobowie Retreat - Coobowie Caravan Park and the attached brochure for photos of the Retreat and further information about the facilities.
The more who stay in the Retreat House, the cheaper the cost per person. At the moment the cost of the accommodation per person will be $49 in total for the 2 nights, however this will decrease further if more people decide to come. In terms of linen, you have a choice of bringing your own, or you can ask for linen to be supplied at a cost of $10 per person.
Please note there are also cabins at the caravan park you can individually book if you prefer to have a space of your own; see
https://coobowiecaravanpark.com/stay/.
CATERING
Thanks to Eleanor who is taking charge of the catering. She has organised a local Lions Club to provide homemade pizzas and dessert for Friday evening. She will be purchasing food for breakfasts and Saturday lunch. Saturday evening will be a BBQ (one of our L'Arche members has kindly offered to donate the meat). The catering costs will be tallied up and divided between the attendees. We estimate the catering cost to be approximately $50 per person. Please note Sunday lunch will be individually purchased by attendees at a local cafe before we head for home.
If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know by early October so that Eleanor is aware of this before she starts purchasing items for the weekend.
PLANNED ACTIVITIES
Activities include:
Games on Friday evening.
Visits on Saturday to the Minlaton forge where we will be involved with simple crafts; the forge will also be in operation if anyone wants to have a try. Also, a visit to a permaculture property in Stansbury to learn about this form of gardening and sustainability; we will be potting a plant to take home!
BBQ & Singalong on Saturday evening.
Joining the worship service of a local church on Sunday morning.
INTERESTED?
We need RSVPs by Friday 3rd October. This will greatly assist Eleanor with planning at the Coobowie end.
