Audience: All YSJ students and staff

Format: One and a half hours in person on York Campus

Prior knowledge: A working knowledge of Microsoft Word

This is an expanded version of our dissertation Word2 course aimed at longer form writing such as a dissertation or PhD thesis.

This course includes:

• Applying and amending heading styles
• Using the navigation pane
• Controlling margins and line spacing
• Showing hidden formatting marks
• Making sections start on a new page
• Adding page numbers and an automatic table of contents
• Using section breaks to change page number styles
• Other uses of section breaks
• Captions and tables of figures
• Cross-reference tool
• Using languages, spelling and grammar check
• Checking word count
• Saving your work to OneDrive, managing versions and Word Online
• A brief look at Track Changes
