Holly Trinity in Holy Trinity - book launch

The launch of the third novel in the Holly Trinity and the Ghosts of York fantasy series.

Local author Ben Sawyer is launching ‘The Masque of the Mummers’, the third book in the ‘Holly Trinity and the Ghosts of York’ series just in time for Halloween, and will be appearing at Holy Trinity Church to talk about the book and read selected excerpts. Signed copies of the books will be available to buy.

Set in York, this urban fantasy series follows Holly Trinity, defender of our very own city, who fends off the forces of darkness with just an umbrella, an arsenal of seventeenth century swear words, a Kate Bush mix tape, and a little help from her best friend Mira.

The Holly Trinity stories feature many locations around York with a twist – not least Holy Trinity Church itself, the site of Holly’s secret sanctum. This new adventure sees Holly and Mira faced with a cursed play, a phantom highwayman, a horde of theatrical spectres, and sinister forces unleashed on a historic festival.

Doors will open at 1830 for a 1900 start.

Tickets are £5 (plus Eventbrite booking fee) and are not refundable.

About the Venue

Holy Trinity is about 800 years old. Due to the age of the building the floors are uneven and light levels low throughout. The inside temperature is usually colder than that outside. Seating will be in historic fixed box pews. Seating is unreserved, sightlines are variable and you may be asked to share a pew. Blankets are available on request (subject to availability). Please feel free to bring cushions or blankets with you to make your visit more comfortable and wrap up warmly.

The main gate onto the site is on Goodramgate (opposite Tesco). There is an alternative access via Low Petergate (through Hornpot Lane).

The building is wheelchair accessible save for St James' Chapel and the Sunken Chapel.
