🤠 EQUIPMENT🤠TACK🤠 PROTECTION🤠
For those that may be coming along for the first time, or may be new to the sport of Obstacle/Stockmans/Cowboy Challenges, the following information might be helpful:
🏇TACK - we do not enforce any restrictions on tack for Club practice & "Non-EXCA sanctioned" racing, as long as it is deemed safe & humane. Although Western & Stock styles are encouraged for safety & security, English, Treeless, Endurance etc. are all accepted.
🤠HEADGEAR - riding helmets are compulsory for under 18 yrs. Adults are welcome to choose to wear a riding helmet, or a traditional Country or Western styled Brimmed hat.
🎿Protective HORSE BOOTS or BANDAGES - as the sport has become faster in the higher/professional levels, & the obstacles more imaginative & challenging, the use of protective boots or bandages is strongly encouraged. Every effort is made to ensure that obstacles are as safe as possible, however slips & trips can occur at speed. The protection of boots or bandages is not a necessity, but is becoming strongly encouraged throughout EXCA Clubs.
🧗♀️ROPES - roping skills are a huge advantage in the higher levels, & one of the best investments you can make is to purchase & use your own rope/lariat, attend a 'roping session/clinic/introduction' & get practicing. Roping is great fun & having your own rope that both you & your horse are comfortable with, is a good way to ensure solid points. There are a zillion Youtube videos on 'How to rope' & 'How to choose a rope/lariat' which are all helpful & informative.
Come along & have a go in a supportive, encouraging & safe environment!!
🦄- The courses will be simple & straightforward.
🦄- Parents are encouraged to be in the arena with their children, as they complete their run.
🦄- Competitors ride individually & set their own pace (as slow or as fast as they are comfortable with).
As this is a "non EXCA sanctioned event", TACK OF ALL STYLES & disciplines will be accepted, with the Judges permission (whatever tack you & your horse usually use for riding will be fine.)
This event will be free for all spectators. You will be guaranteed to see some great horsemanship, excellent entertainment & a great day out - put this in your calendars now!🤠
