The World House Choir is delighted to join forces with Grammy-nominated singer, composer, and song-collector Moira Smiley and The Rhizome Quartet for the opening of the Foundry Theater’s new 2025-2026 season on Tuesday evening, September 2, at 7pm.
With a deep respect for the cultural roles of singing, Moira blends teaching, composing, improvising and performing to empower community, and our sense of wonder and belonging. Moira has published over 150 choral works that are sung by millions of singers worldwide, and has produced 10 albums of vocal-harmony centered songwriting and traditional folk music. Known for her dynamic voice and stage presence, Moira has collaborated with some of the most celebrated names in music, including Tune-Yards, Eric Whitacre, Chris Thile, Hilary Hahn, and Morten Lauridsen.
During her residency in Yellow Springs, Moira will teach the World House Choir a selection of her songs, which we will then perform together in the concert. Based in Vermont, Moira is internationally known for her vibrant vocal harmonies, her blending of folk traditions with contemporary songwriting, and her ability to bring communities together through song.
We are looking forward to a joyous, musical, and uplifting evening — please join us. Tickets are available at the Foundry Theater box office.
