Join us for a 90-minute workshop to explore the ancient practice of Qigong (“chee-gong”). Qigong is the Chinese lineage of movement patterns that enhance mobility, balance, and strength while fostering a profound sense of calm and stress reduction. Gentle movement, mindful breathing, and focused intention come together to cultivate vitality, reduce stress, and enhance well-being.
This 90-minute workshop will start with a brief discussion on the background and foundational concepts of qigong. Class will then move through a physical practice for joint mobility, strength and balance, all connecting movement with breath. This combination of slow, intentional, refined movement, when coordinated with the breath, becomes a moving meditation.
No prior experience is necessary. Qigong is a standing practice but may be modified, seated in a chair. In many ways, qigong is more accessible than yoga, so if you are one who prefers to not be kneeling or to avoid the ups and downs of yoga, you will definitely enjoy and feel the benefit of this practice.
No mat is needed. Bare feet or socks are fine. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for ease of movement, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the practice.Instructor:
