These are the very elements that define the Table Mountain Trail Run — the iconic peak visible from Pietermaritzburg. This incredible route takes runners all the way to the summit, where a 360° view rewards every step: Pietermaritzburg, the far-reaching Eston countryside, Ashburton, and Nagle Dam all unfold before you in a single breathtaking panorama.
But the climb is only part of the story. The mountaintop loop, though flatter, demands focus as runners navigate narrow cattle tracks and rocky paths along the ridge. Beyond the physical challenge, these trails are steeped in local folklore — tales of giant snakes and ancient legends that add a sense of mystery to every stride.
The Table Mountain Trail Run serves up the rugged magnificence of the penultimate race in the Summer Series — a fitting crescendo in this 4-part adventure. From the coastal charm of Mount Moreland, to the sugar farm trails of Bishopstowe, and the rolling beauty of the Valley of 1000 Hills at Run Collective, every event builds toward this powerful showcase of challenge and grandeur atop one of KZN’s most iconic landmarks.
