Tricks with Sticks and String: Beginning knitting
Have you always wanted to knit, but it looked too intimidating? This class is for people who are brand new to knitting, tried before but stumbled, or your skills became rusty over the years. In this class we will demystify the magic of turning knitting needles (sticks) and yarn (string) into objects of beauty. You will learn the basics of knitting including cast-on, knit, purl and bind-off. Once you combine these four basic skills of knitting you on your way to your knitting adventure.
The first class (October 11th) you will learn how to cast-on (get your yarn onto the knitting needle) and learn the knit stitch.
The second class (October 18th) you will learn how to purl and cast off (take your knitting off the needle without it unraveling)
Please bring a pair of wood knitting needles in size 10 (preferred), a skein of light colored bulky weight (#5) yarn, scissors and a darning needle with a large eye.
Date/Time: Saturday, October 11th, and 18th 1:00-3:00 pm (2 Sessions)
Class Cost: $45 (*materials are not included for this class and students should bring their own*)
