Phrases like 'somatic healing,' 'vagus nerve,' and 'the body keeps the score' are buzzing right now - but what does this actually mean for you and for the space you hold with others? Join us for a weekend immersion of exploring somatics, trauma, and the nervous system through the lens of yoga and facilitation.
This 15 hour experience is intended for yoga teachers and other guides of movement or bodywork, and is available for Yoga Alliance CEs. Please note, this is about offering you foundational principles, tools, practices, and considerations in the realm of somatics, polyvagal theory, and trauma awareness that you can apply to what you are already trained and certified in. This is not a course about certifying you in somatic trauma work - we will be discussing scope of practice and additional resources for other in-depth certifications.
We will cover:
-Polyvagal theory, nervous system states, regulation and dysregulation, and how we can support our own nervous systems and the systems of the folks in our spaces
-Somatic awareness and frameworks, practices, and gentle invitations to turn toward the body
-Definitions of trauma, how trauma may be showing up in the room, and scope of practice for your aligned work
-Practical considerations and applications for creating a supportive environment
-Creating a short practice that embodies what you have learned
The schedule is as follows:
Friday, 1/23 - 7-9p - Experiential Somatic Yin Yoga Class
Saturday, 1/24 - Class session 9a-12:30p, Lunch break, Class session 1:30-4:30p
