Wassailing is a centuries-old winter celebration, where torchlit processions, music and merriment are offered to the apple trees to ensure a generous harvest. It’s a joyful event for all ages, filled with music, laughter, and a warming cup of mulled cider or ale (non-alcoholic versions available too).
Join us at 3:30pm, under cover in the Market Barn, for merry music and dancing with the delightful Hawthorn and Hare Morris Dancers.
As the sun sets, we’ll light our torches and walk together to The Fold orchard (a muddy 10-minute walk), singing traditional Wassail songs along the way. There, we’ll bless the trees and 'wake them from their slumber,' before heading back up to the Market Barn for more dancing and singing together.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS EVENT WILL GO AHEAD IN ALL WEATHERS.
