UMass Chan SCI-Cluster 101

SCI Cluster 101 is a 90‑minute, hands‑on workshop that introduces researchers, students, and staff to UMass Chan’s High‑Performance Computing environment. Participants will learn how the SCI cluster is organized, how to connect and transfer data securely, and how to run and manage jobs using Slurm. The session includes live demonstrations, practical exercises, and time for questions so attendees can start using the cluster with confidence.

• Overview of SCI cluster architecture and available resources
• How to access the cluster (SSH), transfer files, and manage data
• Basic job submission and monitoring with LSF
• Best practices for storage, resource requests, and troubleshooting
• Where to find support and documentation

Researchers, lab staff, graduate students, and core personnel who plan to use the SCI cluster or want a refresher on cluster workflows.

Basic comfort with the command line (terminal/SSH). Bring a laptop if attending in person or follow along on screen!
