We return to St Andrews Methodist Church Worcester after the summer holidays for another #socialsewin on the third Saturday in September.
So do you need a sewing machine to do a running repair or a second pair of hands to help hem or pin a garment? Then come to the next #socialsewin - we can help.
As a community group we provide access to sewing machines, an overlocker, some repair sundries and the knowledge of our experienced volunteers.
Why? Because repair lowers carbon emissions and reworking and keeping a beloved item in use after repair saves on resources and makes you happy! We all have favourite garments don’t we?
Plus not everyone owns a sewing machine but we all probably need access to use one now and again. That’s what the social sew in does-enables you to DIY by providing the equipment and help.
💷 Pay what you can donations are accepted in cash or digital forms and the donations go towards the room hire costs. But if you’re not in a position to donate money then the service is free to use. All are welcome.
📍St Andrews Methodist Church on Pump St is the one with the glorious stained glass window at the front. There is a lift to the first floor -we are in room one and there is a Saturday cafe in the church so you can grab a cuppa.
🧵The Social Sew In is a Transition Worcester project helping to make life in our city more sustainable.
♻️ If you are in need of material to help with a project consider shopping at Remade Worcester in Friary Walk Shopping Centre who divert amazing fabrics from landfill and sell rescued quality material and supplies at affordable prices. They are open from 10am to 2.30pm on a Saturday so perfect for getting supplies in before you join us at the social sew in.
