The 2025 Caregiver Summit is a free, full-day gathering dedicated to empowering caregivers and supporting older adults through education, access to services, and community connection. With keynote speakers, panels, breakout sessions, and resource tables, the summit will explore how cultural and personal identity shape the caregiving experience, provide practical tools and strategies for supporting older adults through addiction, trauma, and mental health recovery, and foster collaboration across aging services, mental health, addiction recovery, and community health to build a more equitable system of care.
Scholarships to cover the cost of substitute care coverage are availableto caregivers who want to attend the daytime Caregiver Summit:
50 scholarships for up to $600 per caregiver are available.

Info: The day begins with a warm welcome and an overview of the purpose of the event, led by our emcee in the main room. Dr. Moses Dixon will then introduce the Senior Connection initiative, highlighting its goals and impact.

Info: Participants may choose between three engaging sessions designed to support and inform caregivers. In the main room, a Dementia Friends session will provide participants with a foundational understanding of dementia and guidance on where to turn for support. Each participant will receive a workbook and resource guide to take home. In Room A, “Law & Order: Caregiver Edition” will explore key legal and practical considerations for caregivers. In Room B, “Permission to Pause: A Mindful Reset for Caregivers” will offer tools and practices to support caregiver well-being through mindfulness and reflection.
Info: This panel highlights the unique challenges and rewards experienced by grandparents who step into caregiving roles for their grandchildren. Speakers will share personal stories, practical insights, and resources to support intergenerational families, offering guidance and inspiration for caregivers navigating this important responsibility.
Info: A complimentary lunch will be provided for all attendees, offering time to relax, connect, and network with fellow participants.
Info: The afternoon begins with a keynote address from Sandy Markwood, Chief Executive Officer at USAging since 2002. A nationally recognized advocate for aging issues, Sandy is dedicated to ensuring that older adults have the resources and supports needed to age well at home and in their communities. Her decades of leadership include championing legislation and policies that expand access to vital information, in-home services, and caregiver support, reflecting her deep commitment to valuing and supporting people across the lifespan.
Info: Attendees may choose between two insightful sessions. In Room A, "Navigating Hospice: Compassion and Resources for Caregivers" will explore compassionate approaches and available resources for individuals and families. In Room B, “Caring in the Age of AI: A Personal Story of Support, Struggle & Hope” will offer a heartfelt perspective on how technology intersects with the caregiving journey.
Info: The closing session features a second panel, “Bridging the Gaps: Housing, Healthcare & Harm Reduction for Older Adults in Crisis.” This important discussion will address the urgent challenges facing older adults in times of crisis, with a focus on housing, healthcare, and harm reduction. Panelists will share insights and strategies to strengthen support systems and ensure vulnerable seniors receive the care and resources they need.
