175th Anniversary of the First National Women's Rights Convention

In 1850, over 1,000 people—including Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Abby Kelley Foster, and Lucy Stone—gathered at Brinley Hall in Worcester for the first National Women’s Rights Convention. It was a groundbreaking moment that sparked a global movement. But how far have we come in 175 years?

Now, Worcester Women’s History Project (WWHP) at Museum of Worcester (MOW) is bringing that history to life with a momentous celebration - featuring nationally known speakers, like Gen Z influencer Deja Foxx, best-selling authors, entertainment, and more. Delegates will include high school and college students, the Massachusetts Caucus of Women Legislators, and an inclusive audience, just like the original convention - all genders and ethnicities. The 1850 motion will be read aloud - Equality before the law, without distinction of sex or color, or ethnicity.
