A SLATER’S TALE
Be a part of this special event, a first-of-a-kind collaboration between two local institutions, Rhode Island Stage Ensemble and the Woonsocket Museum of Work and Culture. RISE and the museum are thrilled to present this original, site-specific theater piece from screenwriter Guy Benoit,
inspired by the acclaimed docuseries Slatersville from Rhode Island-based filmmaker Christian de Rezendes. A Slater’s Tale uses local historical figures and icons to examine what happens when a wealthy family finally runs out of money, exploring the effects of wealth on those who have it, those who want it, those who don’t have it and don’t want it - and their friends. This dark comic work of historical fiction features colorful, detailed characters and incorporates traditional New England
folk music (singing is optional for performers!)

Written by Guy Benoit
Directed by Merynn Flynn
Producer: Pat Ferron
Based on the docuseries SLATERSVILLE by Christian de Rezendes
