A SLATERβS TALE
Donβt miss this first-of-a-kind collaboration between two local institutions, Rhode Island Stage Ensemble and the Woonsocket Museum of Work and Culture. RISE and the museum are thrilled to present this original, site-specific theater piece from screenwriter Guy Benoit, inspired by the Emmy-winning docuseries Slatersville from Rhode Island-based filmmaker Christian de Rezendes. A Slaterβs Tale uses local historical figures and icons to examine what happens when a wealthy family finally runs out of money, exploring the effects of wealth on those who have it, those who want it, those who donβt have it and donβt want it - and their friends. This dark comic work of historical fiction features colorful, detailed characters and traditional New England folk music.
Written by Guy Benoit
Directed by Merynn Flynn
Producer: Pat Ferron
Based on the Emmy winning docuseries SLATERSVILLE by Christian de Rezendes
