At this event for Ocean Network, our special guest speaker is Bev Ryan from Smart Women Publish. As a non-fiction book coach and book production manager with more than 15 years’ experience, Bev Ryan increasingly specialises in short-read, long-impact books that provide clear information and actionable content, instead of overwhelming the reader.
In 2006, Bev did something that terrified her: she decided to assemble a team of 21 women, all novice sailors, to enter the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race on board the 35-foot gaff-rigged schooner, South Passage. Bev found the right women and they formed a simple non-profit, WomenRace4Redkite, raising money for families of children with cancer.
As someone who typically worked alone and had a habit of giving up when things got hard, taking up this challenge pushed her into profoundly uncomfortable territory. In this presentation, she'll share how she silenced the inner voices of self-doubt, learned to trust, and discovered that bringing others on board - literally and figuratively - was the key to achieving something she never could have accomplished solo.
Her story offers practical insights for any people in business facing a goal that feels just beyond their reach.
