Mr. Benjamin Kolodziej, organist, composer, and writer, will present his newest book, Portraits in American Lutheran Sacred Music on Sunday, September 21, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in St. Louis.
The afternoon begins with a 3pm Organ Vespers service (Mr. Kolodziej will serve as organist), followed by the book presentation, starting at 4:15pm. Portraits in American Lutheran Sacred Music (Concordia Publishing House, 2025) is a groundbreaking collection of biographies and historical records of important church figures, places, and instruments that carried the foundation of Lutheran church music. Copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Mr. Kolodziej currently serves as Chapel Organist at Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas. He is a frequent organist for hymn festivals and organ concerts throughout the United States and has performed many times in the UK as well as in Germany, Austria, Norway, Italy and Switzerland. As a lecturer on topics of church music, Mr. Kolodziej has presented to American Guild of Organists (AGO) chapters and universities, maintaining an interest in Lutheran liturgical, hymnological, and theological history and practices.
