A 4-part series with Mary Wilson featuring hands-on activities exploring marine life, maps, boats and how the Nobska Lighthouse keepers lived. Designed for ages 3-5 years to attend with a caregiver. Free! Space is limited.
10/8 Marine Life: We will be looking at and learning about marine life that surrounds the lighthouse and creating a marine habitat as our craft.
10/15 Maps & Navigation: We will be looking at and learning about different tools used by lighthouse keepers, making our own treasure maps and having a treasure scavenger hunt.
10/22 Domestic Life: We will be learning what it was like for the family that lived in the lighthouse and looking at the children's bedroom in the lighthouse. We will be making a lantern to take home.
10/29 Life Saving: We will be looking at and learning about the lifesaving devices that are used by the lighthouse keepers, going into the lower level of the lighthouse and making boats from recycled materials to take home.
The Coalition for Children is an education and support program for caregivers with children from birth to age 6 funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
This program is available at no cost to families thanks to the Coordinated Family and Community Engagement (CFCE) Grant and the Friends of Nobska Light Inc.
