Throughout the day Wolverhampton glass artist Suzie from Suzie Lavender Contemporary Glass will be teaching two sessions of fused glass making techniques. You are welcome to attend either the morning or afternoon workshop or you can attend both sessions for the day at a discounted price. These workshops are suitable for beginners or as a refresher course. Your workshop ticket also entitles you to full entry to the Manor and Gardens, Cafe, Gallery and shop!
The schedule for the day is as follows:
Morning Session 10:30am-12:30pm: Festive Glass Mobiles: In this workshop you will design and create a hanging Christmas decoration mobile. You will construct and create a flat bauble/garland shape, a glass star, and a tree shaped decoration which you will be able to decorate in a colour scheme of your choice. You will learn some basic glass fusing and layering techniques with coloured glass. Participants will be introduced a selection of materials and tools. All participants will be make a selection of 3 hanging Christmas decorations and also a hanging bar to create your mobile.
Lunch (not provided) 12:30-1:30pm. Wightwick Manor has a cafe on site and many outdoors areas for enjoying a packed lunch in the fresh air if the weather suits.
Afternoon Session 1:30pm-3:30pm: Seasonal Lanterns – Create your own panels for a seasonal lantern, think Winter trees, Snow scenes or any festive design! In this workshop you will learn some basic glass fusing, cutting and layering techniques with coloured glass. Participants will be introduced a selection of materials, paints and tools. All participants will make and decorate glass panels to fit an Ikea lantern (provided) in colours of your choice. You will take your blank lantern home on the day and will then collect your finished panels two weeks later from Wightwick and you will be able to fit them into your lantern at home yourself.
Participants who are regular attendees of Suzie’s workshops are welcome to make different projects to save repetition if they contact Suzie in advance.
All creations will be kiln fired by Suzie following the sessions and then collection from Wightwick Manor (or postage of the work can be organised) from 14days later.
Places are limited and expected to book up very quickly. Suitable for adults and for teens age 13 and over, under 16's must be accompanied by a participating adult.
Your workshop tickets also include full entry to the Manor and Gardens.

Please note that access can be limited/difficult persons of disability due to the room’s location on the first floor. There is no lift and the room is not wheelchair accessible. Other venues where Suzie also holds workshops do have access however, please contact Suzie for more information.
