The Methow Valley Interpretive Center invites you to a night of weaving together Indigenous storytelling and western natural resource policy around our waterways, salmon, native people and the dams that impact us all. Hear traditional stories from Randy Lewis and learn about the impacts of current policies on salmon recovery.
Randy Lewis - K’ayaxan was born on the Colville Indian reservation, but lived on and off the reservation because his parents fished at Celilo Falls, Oregon before that traditional Indian fishing place was flooded by the Dalles Dam in 1957. He is a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation of the Wenatchi/p’squosa, Methow and Okanagan bands. Randy is a storyteller, teacher, civil rights organizer and historian. His work draws deeply from traditional knowledge and oral traditions.
Aaron Naumman is a Mí’kmaq descendant, who grew up near Bar Harbor, Maine. He holds graduate degrees from Michigan State University and the University of Washington, and has more than 25 years of project development experience as an archaeologist and cultural resource specialist.
