Self-Help International is excited to announce a special farm-to-table dinner experience set among the rolling hills of beautiful Madison County, featuring renowned local chef Katie Porter. This unique culinary event, to be held at 6 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, at the Mohs Barn, in Winterset, IA, will be an unforgettable evening of fresh, seasonal food that celebrates local agriculture and global impact.
Chef Katie Porter, owner of Seasonal Palate, will present a three-course menu that highlights sweet potatoes and corn—staple crops of Ghana and Nicaragua, the regions in which Self-Help International contributes to global food security efforts.
As the owner of Seasonal Palate, Chef Katie Porter provides cooking classes, private events, and farm dinners around town as well as camping trips with Wander Women. Katie has been in the culinary industry for 25 years. Originally from Mt. Ayr, Iowa, she got her start at the American Culinary Federation of Colorado Mountain College and has held culinary positions across the country and internationally before returning to Iowa. Katie highlights local foods in her cooking and values the relationships she has built with Iowa producers.
