CURTIS GODINO: “The Magician’s Trick”
JIMMY SCHAUS + JONAS VAN DEN BOSSCHE
BLACK WICK
LAUREN BARRETT
CURTIS GODINO is a light artist, composer, and performance artist from New York. He has apprenticed with the 1960 pioneers Joshua Light Show of New York City and has presented work at art galleries nationwide. Godino has produced visuals for bands ranging from Metallica to Yo La Tengo. "The Magicians Trick" is a delightful micro-history of analog projected spectacle aimed at both the brain and the heart, combining the ethos of 18th-century magic lanterns with the hardware of 1980s classroom slideshows. The live mixed soundtrack with period sound effects and live narration accompanies the display. This one-man performance lasts roughly 30 minutes and features bright flashing lights in as close to total darkness as possible. No two screenings will be alike. www.instagram.com/droopyeyeguy

JIMMY SCHAUS is an artist and filmmaker whose work spans experimental and narrative cinema, video art, sound and music. "Madrid Études" is a mix of orchestrated and observed scenarios play out across Madrid over the course of a day, splintered and shuffled through in-camera editing and multiple exposures. Isis awakens to find the Temple of Debod dislocated from ancient Egypt to the center of the modern city, meanwhile an urban phantasmagoria unfolds. jimmyschaus.com
