It’s back! Join us for the Auditioning 101 Workshop, which will be held on Saturday, July 12 from 10 am-12 noon at The Little Theatre’s offices, 419 N. Spruce Street.
Adults & teens 14+, if you’ve ever wondered what the audition process is like at The Little Theatre, this is your chance to find out! Guests are invited to come and try their hand at auditioning in a fun, no-judgment environment.
The audition process will begin with filling out an audition form and having a headshot taken. Participants will then move to a mock play audition, where they’ll do a quick cold reading, and then to a mock musical audition, where they’ll sing a few measures from a song. Finally, they’ll learn a short dance routine, again for a musical audition. Tips & hints will be given at each station.
All directors in the workshop will be experienced professionals, but none of them will be involved with any of our upcoming season’s productions. This should alleviate any concerns for those planning to audition in the coming months. Dress comfortably for the choreography part of the audition. If you’d like to practice the song portion of the audition ahead of time, here are the selections we will be using:
Soprano: "Will He Like Me?" from She Loves Me ...
Alto: "Nobody Does It Like Me" from Seesaw ...
(start at :35)
or Alto: "There's a Fine Line" from Avenue Q ...
Tenor: "Ten Minutes Ago" from Cinderella ...
Baritone/Bass: "Soon It's Gonna Rain" from The Fantasticks
...
(start at :50-2:24)
Young female: "I Know It's Today" from Shrek ...
(up to 1:25)
Participants are asked to arrive at 9:50 am so we can begin promptly at 10 am.
The LTWS Workshop Series has been created to help members of the community learn the skills we use behind-the-scenes to put on a theatrical production. Everyone is welcome (please check age restrictions) and there is no cost to participate!
The LTWS offices are in the Arts Council Extension, a 2-story brick building between 4th & 5th Streets downtown. Street parking is available and there are parking decks nearby. Please do not park in the lots on either side of the building or you may be towed.
While there is no charge for the workshop, space is limited. To reserve your spot, sign up using this link:
