Come join us for our 7th Annual Browning Memorial Stew & Chili Supper and Silent Auction 2025 cemetery fundraiser event at the pavilion on the grounds of the old church on Sat., Nov. 1, 2025, 4:00-7:00 pm, with $6 for all-you-can-eat stew, chili, dessert, and drink. Other donations will be gratefully accepted. Silent auction bidding closes at 6:00 pm, so get there in time to bid. Funds earned will benefit cemetery and building improvements. Local musicians, Ron and Cathy Lawson, will provide entertainment throughout the event.
We need your help! What do you have at your house that no longer serves you or that you enjoy, but could benefit the cemetery’s fundraiser? Gift baskets are always a popular item, too. Donations for the silent auction will be gratefully accepted. Examples include decorative items, arts & crafts items, gift certificates, jams & jellies, fresh country eggs, baked goods, gift baskets, glassware, holiday decor, wreaths, plants, flower arrangements, tools, antiques & vintage items, chic t-shirts, etc.
Donated items may be brought on the day of the event, or you may contact Sherry Finney at 903-438-7455 for pick up prior to that day.
Marilyn Browning Burrow, Nancy Browning Stewart, and their families donated supplies and labor to erect a pavilion in the memories of Adell and Grace McAllister Browning and son, Barto Browning. The pavilion was designed and built by Benton Burrow and dedicated on November 4, 2017. The pavilion may be used by families having only graveside services for their loved ones or used for other church and cemetery activities and commemorative events. The old refurbished Shady Grove cemetery sign was attached to the arched end of the new pavilion as an historical artifact.
