About the event

Prokopton Project
The Prokopton Project is an open meeting for people who want to deeply explore themselves using philosophy and psychotherapy to do so.

About this Event

This program is called The Prokopton Project. The word prokopton comes from the Stoic tradition, and it simply means: someone who is making progress. Not someone who is perfect. Not someone who has everything under control. Just someone who is sincerely committed to becoming more skillful in how they live.

So the spirit of this group is not about judgement — it’s about training.
It’s a space where we learn how to live with more clarity, strength, and self-respect.

What this program is

The Prokopton Project is a group-based therapeutic and philosophical training program. It is designed to help you:

  • make better decisions under pressure
  • respond differently to difficult emotions
  • shift unhelpful patterns and behaviours
  • strengthen self-mastery, values, and direction
  • and develop a deeper sense of meaning and steadiness in life

But importantly, we’re not aiming for “quick fixes” or superficial motivation.

This program is for people who want something deeper than symptom-management — people who want a more stable way of relating to life itself.

What it might do for you

If it works the way it is designed to work, then over time you may notice:

  • you become less reactive, more deliberate
  • you develop a more stable and compassionate “inner voice”
  • you’re better able to tolerate discomfort without collapsing or escaping
  • you become more honest with yourself — but also more kind to yourself
  • and you experience more confidence in your ability to face life

You won’t become immune to life’s difficulties — but you may become more capable, more grounded, and more aligned.

The philosophical and psychological background

This group is based on a blend of modern psychology and ancient philosophy.

Psychologically, it draws from evidence-based approaches such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • and process-based models of change

Philosophically, it is strongly influenced by:

  • Stoicism
  • Socratic self-examination
  • and a broader view of life as a process of growth and becoming

A key idea here is this:

Therapy doesn’t work because of magic words.
It works because the human being is capable of growth — and needs repeated contact with truth.

In this program, we treat each person as an organism — a living being with deep capacities for adaptation, learning, and transformation.

So in a sense, what we’re doing here is not just “talk therapy.”
It’s training in how to meet life, and how to develop as a person.

How the sessions will be delivered

Each session will have a rhythm.

We’ll start with a brief settling practice or guided reflection — not to be mystical, but to help us come into contact with ourselves properly.

Then we’ll explore a theme, and you’ll be introduced to a practical tool you can apply in daily life.

This is important: progress here is created between sessions, in the real world.
The group gives you training, reflection, accountability — but your life gives you the practice.

We’ll gradually build skill over time, and each session will add another layer. So:

  • early sessions will be simple and foundational
  • later sessions will become more detailed and demanding
  • and the overall goal is to develop a stable inner orientation you can keep using long after the program ends

How to think about the group

This group is not about “being positive.”

It’s about becoming more honest, more capable, and more grounded.

You’ll be invited to examine what the Stoics called impressions — meaning the automatic interpretations you form about things: yourself, other people, the past, the future, your urges, your fears.

And we’ll use a simple guiding question to train that examination:

“What does this say about me?”
What does my reaction reveal about my assumptions, my values, my fears, or my attachments?

In other words, life becomes a mirror — and through that mirror we develop self-knowledge, self-command, and ultimately freedom.
